I started this blog with the best intentions of posting, at least weekly....sigh...I’m failing miserably !! Sorry friends...I’ll try to do better !
For the past few weeks we have been gearing up here at Casa d Cats for a big(ish) family party. My step son lives near Tampa, FL...and he’s come home to go to his youngest sisters wedding ( on his Mom’s side of the family). The wedding is tomorrow...he asked us to host a family get together so they could see everyone, so that will be Sunday. So. Yay...DH and I don’t really care to entertain, but here we are....yes, we are wimps !! πΉ
My job has been to get the house in presentable shape, and make the flower beds/porch/lawn look good. These are my everyday jobs anyway...so nothing new there. However....I believe there is a special kind of madness that overtakes you when you decide to have a party. You feel like you need to repaint rooms, clean every speck of dirt & dust ( even the ones no one can possibly see ), cook all the food in the world, and make everything perfect.
Well, that ain’t really happening here ! πΉ. I decided...I’m not killing myself with stress to try to even achieve most of that. Here’s what I am willing to do.... I will vacuum up the pet hair/dust bunnies, clean the bathroom, make sure the kitchen is clean, and that we have plenty of food. I must say...I freaked out a bit, spending around $400 on food ( no beer yet, that will be another $50 probably ). The garden looks good, and tidy...hopefully I’ll get all the grass cut ( I cut about 4 acres...usually takes me about 3.5-4 hrs, depending on how often I stop to pee ). The front porch will be de-spidered and the chair cushions vacuumed so people can sit and not get dusty. I will tell the damn chickens to stay off the porch, and for God’s sake...don’t poop on the porch !!! π. The garage will be cleaned, and tables & chairs set up. There will be, hopefully, lots of food to eat...lots of laughter and memories made, and pictures taken.
My biggest worry really, is with people/little kids going in/out of the house, and 6 cats...someone might escape. Our cats are indoor only, and I’d like to keep them that way. I’m going to enlist the aide of my Granddaughter Eisley....she likes to boss people around, so she can make sure she tells everyone what’s up with the furry ones. Jewel the dog will be in the thick of things , making sure everyone knows how she never gets enough love. πΉ.
If I can figure out how to insert some damn photos in the blog....photos will follow ! πΈπ.
Future adventures this wee will be, a visit to the Motown Museum, taking my Grandsons graduation pictures in Detroit, hunting for some delicious Sushi in the D, and celebrating some birthdays. Also...trying to figure out exactly how to use Blogger !!
Until the next time...Namaste my friends π

Some Garden Exploration in Detroit
Went on a garden adventure in Detroit a couple Saturdays ago with my friend Vicky. We visited the Eliza Howell Park, first time for both of us, as part of a group, hosted by the Detroit Audubon Society. It was fun and interesting to learn how they are trying to bring this park back. There was a great variety of people there...families, singles, couples. Young & old. We saw a couple different kinds of butterflies, a hummingbird moth, and lots of beautiful native plants & flowers.
While we were there we picked up some plastic to recycle. I don’t know about you, but if I see plastic laying on the ground and I can, I pick it up and take it with me to recycle. I hate plastic, and I hate those damn plastic water bottles most of all. We gave our Mama ( Mother Earth π ), a Little Love !
Afterwards we went and visited a greenhouse nearby , Barson’s Greenhouse in Westland MI. Not only do they have some gorgeous plants and garden art, they also have a WONDERFUL Butterfly House ! Even though it was Eleventy million degrees inside, and I was drenched in sweat within seconds of entry, it was worth it ! So many beautiful butterflies and moths !! I took some good pictures....I’m so happy we stopped, and Vicky let me take as many photos as my heart desired ! I bought 2 Butterfly plants, planted one at home, and one at the cemetery for sweet Shawna π
When we had enough of the heat & humidity, we went and had some tasty Middle Eastern food at Al Sultan restaurant. I had some of the best lemon rice soup ( with a secret ingredient !! ), and pickled cabbage that I’ve ever had !!! However, the chicken schwarma was very dry π. Our waiter was very attentive and personable, and he kept our water glasses full !! And the decor was definitely very charming !!
All in all, it was a fun day as always, with Vicky....I’m blessed that she’s such a good sport and is always up for an adventure !
